Does this differ from marriage?

There are few legal distinctions between marriage and civil partnership, says Jacqueline Humphreys

FIGURES released last week show that 3648 civil-partnership ceremonies took place between 21 December, when the legislation for them came into force, and the end of January. Civil partnerships are popularly regarded as “gay marriage” , and in practical and legal terms are virtually identical to marriage.
