Wow, the Archbishop of York is a black guy!
Ruth Gledhill reports this and also asks if ECUSA is preparing to walk apart.
The crucial resolution will be the one concerning repentance. The view among the orthodox is that The Episcopal Church should repent for its actions themselves, not just for their effect. The orthodox also want a pledge not to carry out any more gay ordinations of bishops at the minimum.
it is not difficult to see why, given what is at stake, there has been this change of name, the array of flags on the podium, the sense that we are seeing the formation of a new federation that may or may not in the end be in full communion with Canterbury. It looks to me as though The Episcopal Church is indeed preparing “to walk apart”.
