Windsor Hearings. Archbishop of York contributes
A report on the first evening of hearings on the substantive resolutions of the Windsor report. Wednesday 15 June
Executive Summary
The balance of the over 60 testimonies that were heard over 150 minutes called for clarity one way or the other. The view that the current resolutions were acceptable as they stood was in the minority.
There was a Church of England contribution. The Bishop of Durham’s paper ( see earlier posting on the AM site) had been widely circulated and was referenced over half a dozen times. To the surprise of the whole gathering the Archbishop of York put himself down to speak. He clearly indicated that the resolutions needed to be strengthened. “Windsor wanted a space to be created. I am not sure your resolutions create a space for communionâ€.
The hearings and testimonies will continue at 7.30 a.m. in the morning for 90 minutes.
