Madonna and Child Christmas stamps are hard to find

A reader of the AM site read the post on the need to ask for the Madonna and Child stamps, and recounted his own experience:

“Having seen the Madonna and Child designs in the newspaper I went to our nearest post office in Belgravia and queued for 15 minutes.  When I specifically asked for 2nd class Madonna and Child stamps the counter staff denied all knowledge of them and showed me the angel stamps.  About a week later I went back (assuming they might have had fresh supplies) – I was told again that they didn’t have Madonna and Child stamps.  Eventually I had to go to the special philatellic counter of the biggest London post office (just off Trafalgar Square) to buy them!”
