“The Anglican Church Kicks off the March for Life”
Invocation by Anglican Bishop
Washington DC – Anglicans for Life is pleased to announce that the Right Reverend Henry Scriven, Assistant Bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, PA and Anglicans for Life Board Member will give the opening prayer at the March for Life Rally in Washington DC, on January 22, 2008 at noon.
Each year thousands of people travel to Washington DC on the anniversary of the Roe versus Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion all nine months of pregnancy. Busloads of adults, teens and stalwart ‘pro-lifers’ make this annual pilgrimage as a way to acknowledge their support for the sanctity of life.
“To have a representative of the Anglican Communion provide the invocation for such a special event as the March for Life is extraordinary,” stated Georgette Forney, President of Anglicans for Life. “We were very honored when March organizer, Nellie Gray called with the request!”Â
Bp. Scriven’s prayer can be viewed on TV, as the Rally is shown live on EWTN and C-Span at Noon, Eastern Standard Time.
Anglicans for Life is the only Anglican/Episcopal ministry in the worldwide communion dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia, encouraging abstinence and adoption and protecting embryonic stem cells from research abuse.
Anglicans for Life is a global ministry affirming the sanctity of life. We encourage everyone to adopt the Declaration of Life Statement: God, and not man, is the creator of human life. Therefore, from conception to natural death we will protect and respect the sanctity of every human life. Furthermore, we recognize that the unjustified taking of life is sinful, but God gives absolution to those who ask for His forgiveness.
Anglicans for Life was formerly known as NOEL, the National Organization of Episcopalians for Life. Its life-affirming ministry is active worldwide with 75 Chapters throughout the US, the UK and Africa.
