Bishop Michael Nazir Ali adds support to St John’s Shaughnessy
To Canon David Short, Rev Dr James Packer, the wardens and church council of St John’s Church, Shaughnessy, Vancouver and other churches in the Anglican Network in Canada in Vancouver
Dear Colleagues,
We, your brothers and sisters in the Anglican communion in the UK, and members of the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans want to write to you and express our wholehearted support for you in this time of great difficulty. We wish to express our shock and sadness that such an action be taken against you all at St John’s church, and to assure you of our love, support and prayer. Even now we pray that mediation may take place.
We have grave concerns regarding your diocese’s departure from orthodox Christian teaching which is held by the majority of the Anglican communion, and pray that this will not distort the nature of our proclamation of the gospel of transformation which we are all called to declare.
