A NEW TEACHING RESOURCE ON JERUSALAM DECLARATION

Dear Friends in the Church of Uganda and beyond:

The Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology at Uganda Christian University is pleased to make available a new resource for teaching the faith: The Jerusalem Declaration: A Commentary for Anglicans in Uganda. This Commentary, based on the Jerusalem Declaration of the 2008 Global Anglican Future Conference, was written for Anglicans in Uganda, but it may be used by others around the world. It is aimed at church people, and we believe pastors may wish to use it for catechesis.

The Commentary may be accessed at http://theology.ucu.ac.ug/jdcommentary. Convenient buttons and drop-down menus will help navigate the site. Uganda Christian University gives permission to download this commentary free of charge so long as it is not used for commercial purposes.

The English-language commentary has been translated into the following local languages of Uganda:

Acholi, by Rev. Charles Okech
Iteso, by Rev. Dr. Samuel Opol
Luganda, by the Rev. Dr. Olivia Nassaka Banja
Runyankole-Rukiga, by Prof. Manuel Muranga
Lumasaba Lugisu, by Prof. Timothy Wangusa, soon to follow
Lusoga, by Rev. Moses Isabirye, soon to follow.

We welcome suggestions for further translations in the languages of Uganda and beyond.

“These, then, are the things you should teach; encourage and rebuke with all authority” (Titus 2:15). Knowing that Lent has been traditionally a time of repentance and instruction, we commend this resource to our brothers and sisters in the faith.

The Rev. Prof. Stephen Noll
Vice Chancellor
Uganda Christian University
