Disputed lyrics should concern parents

A pop music diva has released a new song espousing the virtues of burqas, the Taliban, and singing praises to Allah with lyrics that are causing controversy among some family groups while being praised by Hollywood music scene elites.

Maya Arulpragasam, the British-born songwriter of Sri Lankan Tamil descent is also known as M.I.A. — an acronym for Missing In Acton. The political techno-rap style is not new for M.I.A. In the past, she has played up her family's connection to radical Sri Lankan terror groups. Her father was a guerilla fighter and leader of Eelam Revolutionary Organization of Students (EROS) — one of the main Tamil anti-government organizations operating in Sri Lanka.
