David Cameron’s drive to save the traditional family is today branded an embarrassing failure.
His Government’s efforts to halt record levels of family breakdown have been scored at just two out of ten by Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith’s think-tank.
The Centre for Social Justice, which Mr Duncan Smith set up when the Tories were in opposition, delivers a scathing assessment of the Coalition’s record on supporting marriage and the family.
As the Coalition marks its anniversary this week, Mr Cameron’s pre-election promises of tax breaks for marriage appear to have ‘moved off the radar’ because of the Liberal Democrats, it says.
