Church of England recognises ‘free’ order that is against women bishops
From The Times
The Church of England has recognised the orders of a “free” church with strong Calvinist roots that believes it is wrong to ordain women deacons, priests or bishops.
The decision, taken by the archbishops of Canterbury and York under powers granted to them in Church law, was condemned by leading women priests as “outrageous”.
The Church of England already recognises the orders of Roman Catholic and Orthodox clergy. This means that if they choose to become Anglicans, they do not need to be re-ordained.
