To Think About: SSM, July 2013

Martin NiemollerFirst they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew.  Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak out, because I was not a Catholic.  Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me. Martin Niemoller

Of course what happened under the Third Reich is on a completely different scale!  In terms of horror, brutality, unadulterated evil; we acknowledge that there is no comparison to what we face here in the UK now.

However, we posted Niemoller's quote because of the insight which is as relevant to us here as it was in Nazi Germany.  Many leaders who hold traditional marriage views and would not like to see others victimized for holding similar views, nonetheless, keep quiet because that is the safe thing to do. The ramifications of SSM are not impacting them personally (yet).  But given what we are looking at, it is only a matter of time, that is, unless they decide to join the ranks of the 'progressives'.  Those of us who have already experienced what happens when one disputes the PC agenda in public know this too well.
