“The Application of the Sex Discrimination Legislation to Religious Organisations”

On Wednesday 11th November at 3.30pm in Westminster Hall, Robert Key, MP for Salisbury, has arranged for a debate to take place on: "The Application of the Sex Discrimination Legislation to Religious Organisations".

This is an excellent achievement. We are grateful to Robert for his efforts on our behalf to draw attention to the fact the Church is outside Sex Discrimination Legislation. This debate has cross-party support.

The Revd John Richardson has responded as follows:

I find myself thinking, "Argument weak, shout loud." And in contemporary society you can hardly shout louder than appealing for a legislature that already has a reputation, even amongst liberal commentators, for sitting light to our freedoms to step in on one's side to enforce one's case where previously liberty of conscience prevailed.
